Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Online Forum Moderator – Safe Space Community Manager to join our global community team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment across our online forums and community platforms. You will actively engage with users, moderate content, enforce community guidelines, and provide support to ensure all members feel heard, valued, and safe. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for building thriving online communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively monitor and moderate user-generated content across forums, comments, and discussions to ensure compliance with community guidelines and terms of service.
- Respond to user inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner, providing support and conflict resolution.
- Proactively identify and address potential issues, conflicts, or negative trends within the community.
- Implement and enforce moderation actions, including warnings, suspensions, and bans, in a fair and consistent manner.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of community sentiment, reporting key trends and insights to the wider team.
- Collaborate with content creators, marketing, and product teams to integrate community feedback into product development and content strategies.
- Organize and facilitate online events, discussions, or campaigns to encourage positive engagement and community growth.
- Assist in the development and refinement of community guidelines and moderation policies.
- Educate community members on best practices for safe and respectful interaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in online community management or forum moderation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities.
- Deep understanding of online community dynamics and user behavior.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Proficiency with common forum software and moderation tools.
- High level of empathy, patience, and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Trello) as a user or moderator.
- Familiarity with various cultural nuances and global online communities.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, global tech environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks regarding online content and user data.
