Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Night Porter to join our team at Novotel Ballarat. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during the quiet overnight hours, providing a secure and comfortable environment for our guests. The successful candidate will handle guest arrivals and departures, manage security procedures, and perform light administrative and maintenance tasks. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in an independent work setting and can maintain vigilance and professionalism during night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage guest check-ins and check-outs during the night shift, ensuring a seamless experience.
- Conduct regular security rounds of the hotel premises, monitoring CCTV and addressing any unusual activity.
- Respond to guest inquiries and requests promptly and efficiently, including minor emergencies.
- Prepare daily reports, including night audit summaries and incident logs.
- Assist with basic cleaning and tidying of public areas as required.
- Set up for breakfast service or morning events, as per operational needs.
- Handle phone calls and internal communications during the overnight period.
- Ensure all hotel policies and procedures are adhered to, especially concerning guest safety and security.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency (PMS experience preferred).
- Physical capability to perform security rounds and light manual tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in various situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local attractions and services in Ballarat.
- Valid driver's license.
