Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Liquor & Gaming Support professional to join our team in Broadbeach. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring The Star Gold Coast’s adherence to all relevant Queensland liquor and gaming legislation, regulations, and internal policies. You will provide essential support to various operational departments, offering guidance, managing documentation, and assisting with compliance audits to maintain our licenses and uphold our reputation as a responsible operator. This position is vital for mitigating risks and fostering a culture of compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in interpreting and applying Queensland liquor and gaming legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Provide timely advice and support to operational teams on compliance matters related to liquor service, gaming operations, and patron management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, licenses, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Support the preparation for and execution of internal and external compliance audits and inspections.
- Assist in developing and delivering training materials on liquor and gaming compliance for new and existing staff.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, legal teams, and internal stakeholders on compliance-related inquiries and issues.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements and assist in implementing necessary updates to policies and procedures.
- Investigate and report on compliance breaches or incidents, recommending corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Proven understanding of compliance principles, preferably within a regulated industry.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical advice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Law, Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a compliance, regulatory affairs, or legal support role, particularly within the hospitality, gaming, or financial services sectors.
- Knowledge of Queensland's Liquor Act 1992 and Gaming Machine Act 1991 (or similar state legislation).
- Experience with compliance management systems or databases.
- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and RCG (Responsible Conduct of Gaming) certifications.
