Job Description

Toll Group is seeking a dedicated and analytical Health & Safety Data Analyst with a strong WHS focus to join our team in Dandenong. In this ongoing role, you will be instrumental in enhancing our safety performance by collecting, analysing, and interpreting WHS data. Your insights will drive informed decision-making, identify trends, and contribute directly to fostering a safer workplace across our diverse operations. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a passion for safety, and proficiency in data analysis tools to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and manage large datasets related to WHS incidents, hazards, near misses, audits, and training.
  • Conduct in-depth statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of WHS issues.
  • Develop and maintain WHS dashboards, reports, and visualisations using tools like Power BI or Tableau to present findings to stakeholders.
  • Monitor key WHS performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates on safety performance against targets.
  • Support the WHS team in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Assist in the preparation of WHS compliance reports for internal and external regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all WHS systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of WHS data collection and reporting processes.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in data analysis, preferably within a Health & Safety or WHS context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, macros).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Solid understanding of WHS principles, legislation, and best practices in Australia.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting data insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Familiarity with WHS management systems (e.g., SharePoint-based systems, bespoke platforms).
  • Experience in the logistics, transport, or manufacturing industry.
