Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as Government Legal Support within the Justice Sector in Warrnambool. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of legal and administrative processes, directly contributing to the delivery of justice services in Victoria. You will provide essential administrative and legal support to legal professionals, assist with case management, conduct research, and prepare documentation, playing a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of our legal functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to legal practitioners, including diary management, correspondence, and file organization.
  • Assist with the preparation, drafting, and proofreading of legal documents, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research using various databases and resources to support ongoing cases and policy development.
  • Manage and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, legal firms, and members of the public.
  • Coordinate meetings, hearings, and court appearances, including logistical arrangements.
  • Process invoices, expenses, and other financial documentation accurately and on time.
  • Support the implementation of new policies and procedures within the justice sector.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with Victorian government administrative processes and legal frameworks.
