Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Event Bumping Assistants for casual night work to support our theatre productions in Fremantle. This role is crucial for the efficient setup and teardown of stage sets, lighting, sound equipment, and other production elements. Ideal candidates are physically capable, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of stage equipment, props, and scenery.
  • Participate in the assembly and dismantling of stage sets, risers, and other structures.
  • Handle lighting and sound equipment under supervision, ensuring safe placement and storage.
  • Follow instructions from production managers and stagehands to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area during setup and teardown.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures for manual handling and working at heights.
  • Collaborate effectively with the production team, stage crew, and other assistants.
  • Perform general labour duties as required to support event production.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects.
  • Excellent reliability and punctuality, particularly for night shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
  • Availability to work casual evening and night shifts, often on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a theatre, event, or production environment.
  • Experience with manual handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, trolleys).
  • First Aid certification.
  • A keen interest in live theatre and performing arts.
