Job Description
M&T Bank is seeking a highly motivated Data Science Intern with a passion for Machine Learning and Python to join our innovative team in Buffalo, NY. You will work alongside experienced data scientists, leveraging advanced analytical techniques and state-of-the-art tools to extract insights from vast datasets. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large, complex datasets.
- Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models using Python and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies within financial data.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of A/B tests and statistical analyses to evaluate model performance.
- Visualize data and present findings clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Research and evaluate new data science methodologies, algorithms, and tools to enhance existing capabilities.
- Document code, models, and analytical processes thoroughly to ensure reproducibility and maintainability.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Python programming.
- Fundamental understanding of machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time series).
- Experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
- Familiarity with statistical concepts and hypothesis testing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases for data extraction and manipulation.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Power BI).
