Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team within the manufacturing sector. This role is crucial for providing accurate and timely cost information, supporting strategic decision-making, and improving operational efficiency across our production facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing production costs, variances, and inventory, working closely with operations and supply chain teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, overhead, and materials, identifying key drivers and variances.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and analyses for management, highlighting areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Conduct regular inventory valuations, reconciliations, and participate in physical inventory counts.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly for production costs and capital expenditures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing financial insights into production processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies related to cost accounting.
- Collaborate with production, supply chain, and sales teams to understand operational impacts on costs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting methods.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance personnel.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
- Experience with process costing in the food or beverage manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
