Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Bulk Stock Mover to join our team in the Pearl District, Portland. This role is crucial for maintaining the organization and efficiency of our large format retail store. The Bulk Stock Mover will be responsible for receiving, moving, storing, and organizing merchandise within the backroom and sales floor, ensuring products are readily available for our guests. This is a regular hours position, offering stability and the opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming merchandise, verifying quantities against shipping documents.
- Efficiently move bulk stock from receiving areas to designated storage locations using appropriate equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks).
- Organize and maintain the cleanliness and order of the stockroom and backroom areas.
- Assist in replenishing sales floor displays and shelves from the backroom as needed.
- Operate balers and other equipment safely and effectively for waste management.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and operational procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth merchandise flow and store operations.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies as they arise.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy merchandise regularly (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures for lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Reliability and punctuality for regular scheduled shifts.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a retail, warehouse, or stockroom setting.
- Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
