Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Boat Yard Hand to join our team for casual day shifts. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to contribute to the smooth operation of our busy marine facility. You will be assisting with various tasks around the boat yard, ensuring boats are moved, cleaned, and maintained to high standards. This is an on-site role based in Ballarat, requiring physical fitness and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the safe movement and launching/retrieval of boats using various equipment.
- Perform general cleaning and detailing of boats, both interior and exterior.
- Pressure wash hulls, decks, and boat trailers.
- Support skilled technicians with basic maintenance tasks as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the boat yard, workshops, and communal areas.
- Assist with inventory management and handling of marine supplies.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Provide general labour support to the marine team as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a workshop or industrial environment.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a marine environment or boat yard.
- Familiarity with boats and marine equipment.
- First Aid certification.
- Forklift license (preferred but not essential).
