Job Description
UPS is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals for the role of Afternoon Dispatch – Casual Day Shifts in our Portland, Oregon facility. This part-time position is ideal for those looking for flexible work hours in a dynamic environment. As an Afternoon Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of operations by coordinating drivers, managing routes, and responding to operational inquiries during the busiest parts of the day. You will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of service and delivery excellence, contributing directly to our mission of connecting businesses and customers. This is an on-site position based at our facility in Portland, Oregon.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers for package pickups and deliveries during afternoon shifts.
- Monitor driver routes and progress using dispatch software and communication systems.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal departments to resolve issues and provide updates.
- Process and manage incoming calls, addressing inquiries regarding shipments, delays, and service requests.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and operational incidents.
- Assist in optimizing routes and schedules to enhance efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Handle emergency situations or unexpected delays with quick and effective problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and safety regulations.
