Job Description
Embark on an invaluable Veterinary Student Placement at Mackay Veterinary Hospital, where you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic rural practice setting. You will be exposed to a diverse range of cases, from small animal medicine and surgery to large animal health and herd management, characteristic of a thriving regional practice. Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with routine examinations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic imaging.
- Observe and participate in both small and large animal consultations and treatments.
- Provide compassionate care for hospitalized animals, including monitoring, feeding, and administering medications under supervision.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with clinic administration tasks.
- Participate in emergency call-outs and after-hours duties as required and appropriate for a student.
- Learn about practice management, client communication, and ethical considerations in veterinary medicine.
- Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent program.
- Strong academic record and a passion for veterinary medicine.

- Basic animal handling skills and comfort working with a variety of animal species.

Preferred Qualifications
