Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to lead our dynamic bar operations at Novotel Canberra. The ideal candidate will be a hospitality professional with a proven track record in managing high-volume bars, developing innovative beverage programs, and leading a dedicated team. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bar, from inventory and staffing to guest satisfaction and compliance, ensuring a world-class experience for every patron.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily bar operations, ensuring smooth service and high standards.
- Develop and implement creative cocktail menus, wine lists, and beverage promotions.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise bar staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct stocktakes, and manage ordering to minimize waste and control costs.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and liquor licensing regulations.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Achieve financial targets, including revenue generation and cost management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, equipment, and storage.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and service skills.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in bar management within a reputable hotel or restaurant setting.
- Extensive knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, and beer.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, inventory control, and cost management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate.
- Proficiency in POS systems and inventory software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Experience with international hotel brands or luxury establishments.
- Certified Sommelier or Cicerone qualifications.
- Demonstrated success in increasing bar revenue and profitability.
