Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Steel Yard Hand to join our dynamic team in Dandenong. This is a vital role requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading steel products and materials from trucks and into designated storage areas.
- Operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other heavy machinery (if licensed) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Sorting, stacking, and organizing steel products according to size, type, and customer orders.
- Performing quality checks on incoming and outgoing materials to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assisting with inventory management, including counting and reporting stock levels.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the yard.
- Adhering to all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Collaborating with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy manual lifting safely and repeatedly.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, enduring various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a steel yard, warehouse, or similar industrial environment.
- Current Forklift (LF) license with practical experience.
- Current Overhead Crane (CB) license with practical experience.
- First Aid certification.
