Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Part-time Night Shift Nurse to join our team at Armidale Regional Hospital. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients during the night hours, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. You will monitor patient conditions, administer medications, document care, and respond to emergencies, working collaboratively with the medical team to ensure continuity of care. This position requires an individual with excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients during the night shift, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, vital signs, and symptoms, reporting any changes to the medical team promptly.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, accurately documenting all actions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and care plans.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies and acute situations.
  • Collaborate with doctors, other nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management and post-discharge care.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
  • Supervise and support junior nursing staff or students as required.

Required Skills

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in an acute care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in administering medications and performing clinical procedures.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Nursing).
  • Experience working night shifts in a hospital environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic patient record systems.
