Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Night Shift Logistics Operative, working a crucial part-time roster to ensure the smooth flow of goods through our Oxford distribution centre. This role is essential for maintaining our high standards of service and meeting customer demands during the overnight hours. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to efficient warehouse operations, ensuring parcels and freight are handled with care and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring secure and efficient movement of goods.
- Sorting, scanning, and organising incoming and outgoing parcels and freight according to company procedures.
- Performing quality checks on items to ensure they meet dispatch standards.
- Operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or pump trucks safely and effectively (training provided if necessary).
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Completing necessary documentation and maintaining accurate records for all logistics activities.
- Collaborating effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve operational targets.
- Identifying and reporting any discrepancies, damages, or issues promptly.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics processes.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently work night shifts and adhere to a part-time roster.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in handling goods.
- Physical capability to lift and move packages, and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to handle documentation and scanning tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and task completion.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and company policies.
- Excellent time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Valid forklift license (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck) is a plus, but not essential.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or scanning technology.
- Basic understanding of supply chain operations.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
